- Speed of Sound
Named for its function, the chronograph features a special scale that displays the speed of sound by measuring the distance of an audible event. Taking centre stage is a moonphase indication that has been entirely reimagined, offering a display never before seen in watchmaking. This timepiece is limited to 3 pieces.
A large, slightly domed disc features a lunar motif drawn by hand using luminescent paint, vividly recalling the splendour of the celestial moon. A fragment of Dhofar 457, a rare lunar meteorite, is set onto the same disc to symbolise the full moon. Two pointers positioned at 3 and 9 o’clock indicate the current lunar phase, with the moon appearing full when the meteorite fragment aligns with either pointer.
Crafted using traditional engraving techniques, the guilloché pattern creates a dynamic interplay of light, while the chronograph counter and small seconds dial are crafted from Aletai iron meteorite. Visible through the caseback, the Valjoux 88 calibre is adorned with hand engraving in traditional floral curves and delicate scrolls reminiscent of lace, bearing witness to the enduring art of hand engraving.
